How do I play QUORDY?

You can read the full instructions here. They are also available in the game on your device; click on the "i" button to find them.

How do I play QUORDY against friends?

You'll need to register a QUORDY account. Tap the "Configure Online Play" button and enter your e-mail address and a password you'd like to use for your QUORDY account. (The password does NOT need to be the password of your e-mail account.) Then tap the "Make or Confirm Account" button.

You'll receive e-mail containing a link to confirm your new account. Once you've clicked that link, return to QUORDY and tap the "Make or Confirm Account" button again to complete the process.

In place of the "Configure Online Play" button, you should now see buttons for "Make Challenge," "Accept Challenge" and "Check Results." Tap the "Make Challenge" button and choose a friend's e-mail address. Once someone has accepted and played your challenge, you can see the results of the game by tapping the "Check Results" button. Tap the "Accept Challenge" button to find out if anyone has challenged you.

What if I want to challenge a friend, but I don't know if they have QUORDY?

If you send a challenge to someone at an e-mail address that doesn't correspond with a QUORDY account, that person will receive one e-mail message inviting them to create an account. Once they do, any challenges you have sent will be waiting.

Do I really have to shake to start the game?

No. You can also begin the game by sliding your finger back and forth across the screen, and you'll find an option in the "Settings" menu that allows you to turn off "Shake to Begin," so that merely touching the screen will start a game. Find the "Settings" menu by touching the "i" button.

What if I've forgotten or want to change my QUORDY password?

Return to the settings screen and enter the e-mail and password information you'd like to use. Tap the "Make or Confirm Account" or "Check Account Status" buttons. If the password you've chosen doesn't match what's registered on the QUORDY server, it will give the option to send another e-mail containing a link to confirm the account change. Once you've clicked that link, return to QUORDY and tap the "Make or Confirm Account" button again to complete the process.

Is my e-mail and QUORDY password information kept private?

Yes. Your e-mail address will never be shared with anyone you have not challenged to a game of QUORDY. The password information sent to and stored on the QUORDY server is encoded. Please note that you do NOT need to use the same password for your QUORDY account as you do for your e-mail account. But even if you do, the QUORDY server never knows the actual text of your password.

I never received my QUORDY account confirmation e-mail. What now?

Your e-mail provider's spam filter might have caught the confirmation message. Try checking in the "spam" or "junk mail" folder for it. If you are certain that you've requested a confirmation message to be sent to that e-mail address, please write support@quordy.com and we can likely confirm your account manually.

Some of my challenges aren't appearing in my pending challenge list. What's happening?

In an effort to optimize server response time, an update to the QUORDY game server lowered the maximum number of pending challenges displayed from 100 to 20. If you have more than 20 pending challenges, they are all still on the server. As you complete those listed, newer challenges will take their place in the pending challenge list.

My kids want to play QUORDY. Are they going to learn some new vocabulary?

On the game board, touch "full word list" to see the dictionary options you may use. Choose "safe" to avoid profanity.

What dictionary does QUORDY use for validating words?

QUORDY validates words against TWL06. Based on feedback, that one appears to be the most commonly accepted word list among players of similar games. As we don't aim to be an authority on what words should or shouldn't be included, the TWL06 word list is included in its entirety.

Something is wrong with my QUORDY file, but I don't want to pay to download the game again. What should I do?

If you have already paid once, iTunes doesn't require you to pay again. If downloading the game anew seems like a good troubleshooting move, go for it.

How do I request new features for QUORDY?

Feedback is always welcome at support@quordy.com.

I don't have any/enough friends to play against. What do you recommend?

Send a challenge to Kristan, wife of the creator of QUORDY. If she's not too busy, she'll happily take you on.

I have a question that's not answered here. How do I ask it?

Please send e-mail to support@quordy.com and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
